Getting the best from your fish finder

A fish finder will indicate where the fish are, but will not tell you where and when they are going to feed. It is best to use the fish finder as an electronic feature finder and to add this information to other information such as wind direction, air pressure, moon phases and local knowledge. These devices are not the magical answer that some advertising may suggest, but if used correctly, they are a very quick way to gain invaluable and accurate information about contours and other underwater features that would otherwise take a lot of plumbing and asking locals for information that may be unreliable.
