Great rod for big roach in my local small quarry up in Scotland, would pay the money just for the rod itself, the reel is what it is, bought two already going to buy my third. Cheers guys for putting together a great feeling rod.

Having recently started targeting specimen perch I decided to get a rod better suited to them. Predominantly used for livebaiting and occasional lobworms, on canals and rivers, this rod seemed to fit the bill.

Having used it for a few weeks over 5-6 sessions I can say that it really is excellent. The quality of finish is well above what I expected for the price, although quite simple. Good strong reel seat, decent eyes and a good cork handle with very little filler.

Action wise, I'd describe it as progressive. The tip is very soft, and you can see the livebait tapping away nicely, but as it bends through the blank it is a bit stronger than I was expecting.

I have had no problems casting a small bomb and bait across a wide canal basin, or a small baitdropper.

Playing wise I have found it perfect. Its soft enough to allow a good fight out of perch as small as 1lb and I have had pike to 9lb. Although it handles the pike fairly I wouldn't set out to fish for them with it.

The reel that it comes with isnt to my taste, I dont like baitrunners but it seems ok, nice drag and balances the rod well, and the guru line is perfect for this set up.

Overall for targeting small specimen fish I cant recommend it enough and for the price its a no brainer.
